Three of my favorite things in one book --- Sunbonnet Sue, appliqué and embroidery. Appliqué or embroidery is something that I can do in front of the TV at night or take with me when I travel. They makes wonderful blocks that I can sew into a quilt when I am able to get back to my sewing room.
Sunbonnet is playing with Scottie and they even "allow" a cat to be in some of the blocks. There are 40 different blocks to choose from dancing to running to playing with kittens or paper dolls. The first pages show you how to use the thread, make a knot and stitch types and continues with making appliqué pieces. This is followed by ways to assemble the blocks into a quilt and finishing techniques.
The first pattern is done in Redwork and shows a color photo of the finished quilt along with size and finished block size. A material and cutting list comes after a blurb about the quilt. Making the blocks, assembling the quilt and completing it wind up the pattern instructions.
The second pattern shows Sunbonnet and Scottie done in an appliqué quilt. The same information is included with this pattern as with the embroidery pattern quilt. In addition, there are graphics to guild you along.
Next, you will find a pattern for cuddle dolls. These will make great toys to give to grandchildren or if you are a charity worker, the children's ward at hospitals will love to have them for their small patients as there are no objects that can be swallowed.
Two more quilt patterns are given and then the 40 blocks are provided at full size. Two pages contain sashing cornerstone patterns. And, I love it when there is a section on the author but this time there is an added bio! Yep, you got it ---- on Scottie!
