I ordered this machine because the one I had only did forward and reverse and zig-zag and I have had it for 20 years and it still works very well,It to is a Brother. I started doing applique quilting and needed a machine that had more stitches so I ordered this machine. It was everything I had expected and it was a good price at $60.00. I priced a new one and found it was over a hundred dollars. This machine would be perfect even for a beginner. It is easy to use and can handle alot of different materials. I would highly recomend this machine.

Sew What Skirts: 16 Simple Styles You Can Make with Fabulous Fabrics Review

Sew What Skirts: 16 Simple Styles You Can Make with Fabulous Fabrics

I sew almost every day. I never use patterns. I hate them. I mean, what's the point of putting all that time into making a garment if it's going to look like something you bought at the store?
That's why I design all my clothing and handbags, and this book is now one of my favorites. It doesn't come with built in patterns, but directions for how to measure yourself and make patterns or - better yet -mark the skirt dimensions right on the fabric. What's more, the designs are unique and versatile, and the author encourages personal creativity.
The day after I bought it I sewed the Country Charm skirt using some quilters cotton and another cotton fabric I'd hand-dyed a few days before. The directions were simple, accurate and within a couple of hours I was done. Thanks to the wonderful instructions, my fabric choices and an applique I ended up with unique, wearable work of art and a new style of skirt to sew for myself or others.
It's not often I'm impressed with a sewing book. This one gets my highest recommendation.

Complete Guide to Quilting Review

Complete Guide to Quilting

I've been quilting for some time now... However, we can all use a little help now and then on a technique we're not used to using all the time. What I absolutely LOVE about this book is that they give you several different options for almost every technique out there. This book stays on my quilting table at all times! There are tons of charts on quilt sizes, triangle sizes, flying geese, etc. It's just a wealth of great information and presented in an easy to understand manner with lots of pictures.
I have looked at several other "how-to" books and have not yet found one to even come close to replacing this one. I even took it and had it spiral bound so it was easier to look through and hold my place open. It's been worth every penny and it's not even the most expensive one out there!
