I ordered this machine because the one I had only did forward and reverse and zig-zag and I have had it for 20 years and it still works very well,It to is a Brother. I started doing applique quilting and needed a machine that had more stitches so I ordered this machine. It was everything I had expected and it was a good price at $60.00. I priced a new one and found it was over a hundred dollars. This machine would be perfect even for a beginner. It is easy to use and can handle alot of different materials. I would highly recomend this machine.

Household Essentials 1398 16-by-32-Inch Sewing Center Review

Household Essentials 1398 16-by-32-Inch Sewing Center

I ordered this not really expecting much for such a low price. Was I ever mistaken!!
This makes any table top a sewing center. It is well padded with very clear markings. Keeps my machine from sliding while sewing and reduces noise. The pockets are convenient for placing items in while working on a project.
It folds and fits in my sewing machine carrying case for easy storage and to take along to sewing/craft classes.
I was using a foldable compact ironing board to protect my table tops and corian counter tops. I can now rid my self of this space taking setup.
This setup makes for an compact, lightweight setup that transports and stores easily.
Not only a terrific solution for the fulltime RV seamstress and crafter, but also would work well in dorm rooms and small apartments.

Jam-packed with an assortment of organizational options, this 16-by-32-inch sewing center makes a wonderful addition to any crafting room or creative workspace. The unit's padded muslin construction and non-slip silicone backing serve to dampen machine noise and prevent sewing machines from "walking" across the counter or table during operation, while its handy grid--printed at 1-inch increments--enables effortless measurements while cutting or hemming. Even more, its roomy surface area offers plenty of space for both a sewing machine and an iron, making it easy to pre-press seams, iron collars, affix sizing, and mount iron-on patches without making multiple trips across the room to use a freestanding ironing board. Additional highlights include three detachable pockets for bobbins, thread, elastic banding, and other small notions; two scissor holders for keeping pinking shears or fabric scissors nearby; and a small waste bag--all of which hang neatly over the edge of a table or desk for out-of-the-way convenience. An indispensible tool for both novice and professional tailors, the sewing center measures approximately 16 by 32 by 1/2 inches.

I for once had no prior sewing teachings. I quickly learned to use this machine and it has made many beautiful projects. I recommend the Brother LS-30 to anyone wanting to learn to sew. Easy to thread, although it's reburbish I have no complaints.

Stitch to your heart's content with this Brother sewing machine. LS-30 full-size sewing machine has 22 stitch functions to satisfy your every stitching need. Sewing machine is easy to use and loaded with features. Built-in free arm for sewing cuffs and sleeves Super easy bobbin winding system. 3 needle position selector. Built-in sewing light. Stitch length dial. Built-in accessory storage. Includes instruction book and foot pedal. What is Refurbished? When a product is refurbished, it is made to look like and operate as a brand new item should. Many times it is as simple as the box being opened by mistake or for quality checks. Once the box has been opened, that item cannot be sold as new. Items with serious malfunctions are not refurbished, it would cost too much to refurbish them to 'like new' condition. Each refurbished item we feature is completely inspected, rerun down the production line and triple checked for quality before being packed and shipped. Most of the time the only difference between new and refurbished is the brown box and the lower price, which is your gain as an educated consumer. We are so confident with the quality of our refurbished items that we offer a full 30 day return policy with every purchase, so buy with confidence!

Singer 34-Stitch Esteem Sewing Machine - White (1732) Review

I would say this is an okay machine for beginners. I say this because some seem to have the impression that the machine is supposed to do everything for you. First read the manual thoroughly so you can understand how the machine works. Second, in the beginning, my stitches kept getting tangled, and I realized all I needed to do was fix the tension. You just have to play around with the machine to understand how it works. Second, the "S" button is not in the stitch selector dial but stitch length. I've made 4 different projects with this machine so far and I love it. Works well and I'm sure I'll have this one for a while.
