I spent too long trying to thread it! You can't respool the bobbin on it, the needle doesn't rise up so you can stick a cloth under it!, you're so busy trying to make it work, you sew your fingers in the process! In short, you can't sew with it! DO NOT BUY!!!

(More customer reviews)I ordered this machine because the one I had only did forward and reverse and zig-zag and I have had it for 20 years and it still works very well,It to is a Brother. I started doing applique quilting and needed a machine that had more stitches so I ordered this machine. It was everything I had expected and it was a good price at $60.00. I priced a new one and found it was over a hundred dollars. This machine would be perfect even for a beginner. It is easy to use and can handle alot of different materials. I would highly recomend this machine.

This makes any table top a sewing center. It is well padded with very clear markings. Keeps my machine from sliding while sewing and reduces noise. The pockets are convenient for placing items in while working on a project.
It folds and fits in my sewing machine carrying case for easy storage and to take along to sewing/craft classes.
I was using a foldable compact ironing board to protect my table tops and corian counter tops. I can now rid my self of this space taking setup.
This setup makes for an compact, lightweight setup that transports and stores easily.
Not only a terrific solution for the fulltime RV seamstress and crafter, but also would work well in dorm rooms and small apartments.

The only negative thing I can say is that it won't do really thick materials because it won't fit under the arm. But since I didn't expect that considering the cost, I won't let it affect the 5-star rating.

(More customer reviews)Bottom line, DO NOT PURCHASE SINGER MACHINES!!! This was given as a gift and it jams ALL the time!! I've done every adjustment suggested by singer and from experienced users. All have said that the new singers have so many problems, especially with jamming. We have yet to sew anything since we opened up the box, just google singer 2263 problems and you'll see for yourself... At the end of the day they should rename the company to wannabe singer. Truth of the matter is Singer went bankrupt and sold the company. So it's NOT the old school respectable and well built Singer our parents and grandparents grew up with. Below are some of the reviews on Walmarts site...
"this machine sews fine for about 3 inches until ALL OF A SUDDEN the fabric balls up underneath the fabric and the machine completely stops. I've tried pretty much everything and can't figure out how to make it work. i think it's the tension... but i thought this was a machine for BEGINNERS! i think it just wasn't built right because you can tell from looking at it that the parts don't align quite right.
this is NOT a machine for beginners... but from reading other reviews, it seems like even expert seamstresses can't fix the problem!"
"I bought this as a beginner sweing machine to learn to make a few summer dresses for my daughter. It worked fine the first day, and since then I have had nothing but problems. It looked good in the store and I have used Singer machines since the 1950s! I sew a lot and was trained by a master seamstress.
This machine tangled the threads and jammed within 2 hours out of the box. I had read the manual cover-to-cover and used the "trouble-shooting" page to try to fix it. then I thought, "WHY?!!" It wouldn't sew straight any more and had threads balled up under the fabric. Yuck! It is going back this afternoon!"

BRATZ (REAL) Designed Sewing Machine Review

(More customer reviews)My daughter received this from her aunt. We followed the directions included in the package and found several problems with the item. (1) Once the machine is threaded (according to the directions) the thread feels so tight that it threatens breaking when you pull it through the needle... (2) The foot pedal pulls the fabric through the machine backwards.....(3) There seems to be nothing in the bottom portion of the machine which catches the thread to make a complete seam, in other words...the needle pulls the thread in and out of the fabric without leaving any thread connected to the fabric.
I am completely frustrated with this product and would love to hear that I am just using it incorrectly or that I have a malfunctioning machine. My daughter was VERY disappointed since she had looked so forward to "really" sewing on her own. Has anyone else had any experience with this product?

My mother (a veteran seamstress) tells me that it's because the material I'm trying to use (cotton jersey) is too difficult for the machine to work with. As it is the only material I was planning to use, I will be returning the machine.
