If you find out that it isn't in stock after you already sold it then please contact me and tell me it isn't in. Don't let me sit there and wonder for two weeks why my order isn't coming on time. Singer 14SH654 FreeArm Overlock Sewing Machine Serger Review

Singer 14SH654 FreeArm Overlock Sewing Machine Serger
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this serger from Walmart about a week ago. The low price is what lured me in, and I have not been terribly disappointed yet, considering what I paid for it. Sergers are fairly complex and take a lot more patience to operate than sewing machines. You can expect to put at least an hour or two into setting this machine up, and should plan on running a few scraps of fabric through it initially to adjust the tension dials, which can be a bit finicky and over-sensitive. The machine comes with a DVD that is INFINITELY more helpful than the manual, and with a lot of patience and several failed attempts, I was able to thread it correctly and produce a stitch. My only complaint is that the stitching can be inconsistent at times, no matter how much I fiddle with the tension dials, but I cannot say I expected a flawless machine at such a low price. This is a nice machine for those on a budget or who use their sergers lightly. I only use mine for finishing the edges of light-weight fabrics, and it suits my purposes quite well. A more expensive machine would probably function more consistently, true, but I'm thankful there's a serger out there that meets my more stringent budget!

All the speed, efficiency, and creative possibilities of an overlock machine are yours with the Singer 14SH654. With easy access to the lower loopers, the quick and easy capability to make rolled or narrow hems, and the decorative stitch possibilities, this model makes an excellent choice for a first time user of an overlock machine or as a replacement for that older model in the corner. What is Refurbished? When a product is refurbished, it is made to look like and operate as a brand new item should. Many times it is as simple as the box being opened by mistake or for quality checks. Once the box has been opened, that item cannot be sold as new. Items with serious malfunctions are not refurbished, it would cost too much to refurbish them to 'like new' condition. Each refurbished item we feature is completely inspected, rerun down the production line and triple checked for quality before being packed and shipped. Most of the time the only difference between new and refurbished is the brown box and the lower price, which is your gain as an educated consumer. We are so confident with the quality of our refurbished items that we offer a full 30 day return policy with every purchase, so buy with confidence!

Singer 14SH6540 Differential-Feed Serger Sewing Machine Review

Singer 14SH6540 Differential-Feed Serger Sewing Machine
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this item at Walmart for $229 and was excited to begin sewing my first project. That was a huge mistake. The thread kept popping out of the tension on #3 no matter what I did. I tried tightening it several times, went back to directions repeatedly looking for what I could have done wrong, though everything appeared to have been done correctly. To finish the initial project I was sewing I ended up having to hold thread #3 by hand to create the right tension to finish sewing. Thank goodness for dexterity! The other major problem I had was the machine jumped around a lot on my sewing table as it sewed. It didn't weigh enough to hold it in place, nor were there any suction cups on the bottom to keep it stable. I ended up having to chase the machine down while I was holding thread #3! I'm sure it all looked quite comical, but it was WAY too much of a hassle for me. I returned the item to Walmart, got my money back and went to a local sewing shop and found a Janome serger that didn't cost too much more. The Janome threads beautifully with perfect tension and has little suction feet to hold the machine in place while sewing. Going from the Singer to the Janome in the same day made it very clear to me what a cheap piece of junk the Singer is. As a side note, I asked the repairman at the sewing shop about the Singer and he says he won't carry them anymore because they break too often. 3 Months later and I haven't had a single problem with my Janome!

Singer Long Life Light Bulb 10 Watt-120 Volt-Screw-In Base Review

Singer Long Life Light Bulb 10 Watt-120 Volt-Screw-In Base
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Button Magic just does not do as good a job as a needle and thread do. The plastic fasteners break and the buttons are very loose--one good yank (or an accidental catch on something) and the button comes out, often breaking the plastic "T" ends. Plus, the "T"s need to be pushed through the button holes, often requiring small pliers which can mangle/flatten the "T" tips. Better to just learn how to sew a button on, I say (type)!

Singer 3116.RF Simple 18-Stitch Mechanical Sewing Machine Review

Singer 3116.RF Simple 18-Stitch Mechanical Sewing Machine
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The reason I gave the Simple Singer 3116 a one star was because there is no zero star. I bought a brand new one. Do not waste your time or your hard earned money. I would be embarassed to put my name on anything that hookie. Chinese made. The bobbin jammed over and over and over the first day I started to use it. Singer said, " it might be off timing ". It's brand new for crying out loud. The instruction video was superb. But that's where it ended. The product is really frustrating.
Let me tell you about the bobbin. It sits in a half moon shaped depression that you slide a " hook " into and then while holding that easily disgorged piece with one hand you have to slide the race over all that and then clip " dog ears " over each side to hold it in place. Then you take the bobbin and slide it in to the center post. I can't think of anything more prone to failure than that design except perhaps just tossing those parts in there without even dog earring them.
From the Singer Customer Svc CTR apparently this is not new to them. They said the electronic units do not have " this problem ".
Hope this helps with your decision making. I wish I had seen this prior to buying mine.

This product doesn't even deserve one star! I bought this for something simple and easy...what a BIG MISTAKE!! It's more trouble than it is worth! The hems don't hold up, it's a pain to finish a hem so it doesn't unthread on me, it's hard to control any real direction AND did I mention that it just plain SUCKS? I feel like I am all thumbs while trying to use it. It's now in the dumpster because I wouldn't even GIVE it away!!! Coming from the name Singer, I was a bit surprised of the bad quality :((

Average Reviews:

This is solid and attractive but the big surprise is that it's a cover only. It slips over the machine and you reach through the top to pull through the sewing machine's own handle. There's no base at all. This would be fine for giving your machine some protection when taking it to a class, but it wouldn't keep out dust in storage. Also, it fits so snugly (a good feature) on my Janome DC2010 that it's not practical to put even a thin plastic sewing machine cover under it for dust protection--plus that would block the handle and the dust could still get in from the open bottom. If you want this strictly for transporting your machine, the storage compartment that flips out is a nice feature.

Singer Inspiration 4210 Sewing Machine Review

Singer Inspiration 4210 Sewing Machine
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is an update to my previous review (see below the **** for the original review).
The replacement 4210 sent to me directly from Singer is a VAST improvement over the 4210 I bought in Spring 2007. It's very obvious that the model has had improvements over the past two years of continued manufacture. I've put the new 4210 through its paces and am well pleased with it! What a relief!
****Original review:
I've been sewing for 30 years on an old model Singer, and am an experienced seamstress. I bought this for the features my vintage Singer doesn't have, such as zig-zag stitches, stitching for stretch knits, and buttonhole stitching.
I've had problems from the start with the 4210. The "birdnesting" problem with the bobbin if the machine is not threaded under tension is ridiculous, and documented on Singer's support site. Having to purchase specific bobbins is just wrong. Making buttonholes is not the piece-of-cake that is claimed. It's not intuitive how to change presser feet. The bobbin case jams repeatedly. When using four layers of lightweight cotton and stitching them, birdnesting occurs; you can pretty much ruling out sewing any heavy or thick fabrics with this machine. Birdnesting also occurs when stitching stretch knits. The tension lever doesn't seem to have any effect on tension at all. I could go on and on.
I've called Singer support and they've offered to give me a new 4210 and send this problem one back. I'll take them up on that, and hope that in the two years since I bought my 4210 some of these problems may have been worked out in manufacturing. We'll see.

Singer Fuzzy Wuz Lint Remover 01665; 2 Items/Order Review

Singer Fuzzy Wuz Lint Remover 01665; 2 Items/Order
Average Reviews:

A real sweater-saver and well worth the ten bucks. I actually bought mine for 99 cents from a jobber (the much-missed Odd Job in NYC) and have kicked myself ever since for not getting ten. The buy-two minimum here turns out to be well-advised; while the shaver is marvelous on natural fibers, the flimsy blade head tends to wear out when pitted against the blends most in need of a shave (such as pilling-prone acrylic). Also, the trimmings reservoir is rather difficult to pull off when emptying, which, in my case, resulted in a broken -- and subsequently scotch-taped -- catch and shorn fibers scattered across my living room. My husband bought the Singer 6180 for me for Christmas. The electronics didn't work, so I returned it, and got another one. This one will not stich at all. The Singer Helpline is constantly busy. I am very unhappy with my experience with this machine. It's too bad, I have a 40's Singer, which was my grandmothers. It works, but only does a straight stich.

Love this! Sews beautifully, lots of great stitches, very easy to switch out the pressure foot. Only drawback I've found was the bobbin cover is easy to misplace. It pops off completely to put on a new bobbin. But I've just made of habit of putting it in the same spot when changing bobbins so I won't lose it. I really like the little cubby hole storage box on the front to store the extra feet. Very nice machine, and I'm very happy with it.

Gosh, after paying a whole lot more for this seemingly professional serger, it started falling apart--literally--after the first few days. The machine vibrates, shakes, rattles--is very difficult to keep steady even after placing it on my heaviest and sturdiest table. Then the upper looper started yanking the thread out of the needles. This one's going back. Problem is, I don't know what to get next. So I am going to try for the Reliable Dreamstitcher. We'll see.

SINGER HD-110 Heavy Duty Model Sewing Machine Review

SINGER HD-110 Heavy Duty Model Sewing Machine
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Uhm...no. Sorry guys, back to the drawing board on this machine. It is absolutely riddled with design flaws and I must agree with another reviewer: Singer is NOT the company it once was, certainly not the company that has been used and trusted in my family for over 80 years. There is NOTHING (I repeat, NOTHING) heavy-duty about this machine. Basically, this is a standard grade home sew machine, repackaged to look "industrial" with a beefed-up, clutch style motor. Though this machine is very fast (as fast as most industrial machines) it does not have the pressure in the presser foot nor the power in the feed mechanism to support the motor speed. With the slightest resistance, the motor will race away, producing stitches while your work remains stationary under the presser foot. Though the variable needle position is handy, it is very unstable. The slightest pull dislodges the needle position (even with the needle at its lowest point)producing uneven stitch length and unpredictable stitch position. Needless to say, top stitching produced by this machine in anything heavier than cotton broadcloth is appalling. Just forget sewing with wool melton or any other cloth that has substantial loft. Because of insufficient foot pressure, this machine skips in heavy fabrics and leaves clumps of unused thread on the bobbin side. And speaking of bobbins...who would use a Type 66 bobbin in what is called a heavy duty machine? Yes, the drop-in bobbin is very convenient but the Type 66 requires constant re-threading. It's simply not a bobbin with high enough capacity for large or heavy jobs. I agree with a previous reviewer: the accessories included with this "heavy duty" machine are a joke. The spot-weld on the general purpose foot broke within the first week of use. It is now held together with crazy glue because I dread calling Singer for a replacement. The so-called zipper foot is a half inch piece of plastic encased in something resembling tin foil. Also broken. When I received my machine, the accessory package, foot pedal, power cords, warranty and owners manual were missing from the box. It took three weeks to get them. The owners manual was back ordered for over 8 weeks. Is no one at Singer nimble-minded enough to scan the manual and make it available as a PDF download? Perhaps the most frustrating thing about this machine is that, at the $200.00 plus price point, it does not include features available on Singer's entry level machine, Singer Simple. The Simple model includes variable foot pressure (which is easily tightened using the enclosed screw driver) or the extra inch of clearance under the presser foot, VERY handy for heavier projects. Honestly, I tried to return this machine two weeks after purchase but neither the supplier nor Singer would take it back. Singer has the worst customer service department I have ever encountered and...well...just skip the website. It is woefully inadequate. Two thumbs down!

I wanted an affordable machine that had plenty of bells and whistles. I was leaning toward the Singer Featherweight, but this caught my eye because it was less expensive. I've put it to the test with a few projects, and it has performed great. The only problem I noticed is that the feet occasionally come off if accidentally bumped. However, it is not that annoying, because it happens when I am not in the middle of stitching.

Singer Touch & Sew Sewing Machine Review

Singer Touch and Sew Sewing Machine
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After reading a lot of on line reviews, I got this machine in September 2007. Funny that at the time I could hardly find many negative reviews and the ones I did find were people who had a beef with Singer or a weird fluke that made their machine break. So I took the plunge. I'd had another Singer that lasted a good 10 years with sporadic use. I'm certainly no seamstress. This was more or less for easy projects and simple sewing. It was easy to get started on the machine. The buttons for the various stitches are great. The horizontal placement of the thread seemed like a great idea. The instruction book was clear. It is easy to perform maintenance on the machine as the screws are easily accessible. That's about where my joy ends and my complaints begin.
First, the lighting stinks. Second, it's LOUD. If you get to pumping away at a long line of stitching, it's like a jackhammer. Then there's the godforsaken foot pedal. Irritating? You bet! It seems to either go slow or super fast and is clunky and unnatural. I have to use a bare foot to be able to grasp it with my toes to massage it to go a decent speed without jerking into super speed. Trying to get it to maintain a comfortable speed is hard work. If you step on the pedal and remove your foot, and then try to step on it again again right away, the pedal fails to work at all if you haven't allowed the needle unit to stop. It can be super annoying.
The last complaint I will voice is the fact that I am having one heck of a time getting thread that agrees with the machine. Yes, I've cleaned the machine. Yes, I've oiled the machine. Yes, I've adjusted the tension up or down. Yes, I've changed needles...bought good thread...am using "Singer" products...sacrificed a goat and did a rain dance...but the thread is forever clumping around the top of the needle and snapping off. No matter what I do thus far, I can't seem to solve that problem.
All in all, I am frustrated with this machine. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. You know that saying "you get what you pay for"? Well, if only that were true in this case! I haven't even gotten what I paid for!

I would say this is an okay machine for beginners. I say this because some seem to have the impression that the machine is supposed to do everything for you. First read the manual thoroughly so you can understand how the machine works. Second, in the beginning, my stitches kept getting tangled, and I realized all I needed to do was fix the tension. You just have to play around with the machine to understand how it works. Second, the "S" button is not in the stitch selector dial but stitch length. I've made 4 different projects with this machine so far and I love it. Works well and I'm sure I'll have this one for a while.
