(More customer reviews)Even though I am an experienced quilter and do most of my piecing at home on my Bernina, I dread taking it to classes and my quilt group because it is so heavy. I have two sets of stairs to carry it down to get to the car and recently have been asking my husband to carry it down for me. I can lift the Janome Jem Gold with one hand! It sews a very nice and accurate quarter inch seam. And it was only $189.00 with free shipping. I am the third person in my quilt group to purchase this machine and several more are expressing interest. If you aren't ready to invest in a Singer Featherweight then this is the machine to buy. The Janome Jem Gold is very simple to operate and could make a good first machine for a young person just learning to sew as well.

I've now started the hobby of making decorative pillows for othe people homes.the machine is a little cheap but it does just fine for a beginner like myself, come with 6 different presser foots and 4 bobbins and seam cutter and extras.For the price you I dont think you can do better.

I am about halfway done a baby quilt and have really enjoyed sewing again. I think that if the machine hadn't worked so nicely I would have been frustrated. I haven't sewn enough to really know how to fix problems. The instruction manual was easy to follow and at one point when the tension wasn't right, the manual provided me what I needed to fix it.... I have a friend who sews regularly who recommended this to me and I have been exremely happy.....

It was so easy to learn to wind the bobbin and thread the machine, going by just the manual. I haven't sewn a thing since 8th grade home ec and after 2 days of practicing I've already hemmed some things and fixed a few seams in my husbands' boxer shorts ;) The machine itself is very solidly built and runs so smoothly, it makes me feel silly for being so nervous about sewing for so long. I wish I had gotten one years ago! I would definitely recommend this machine to anyone looking to get into sewing for the first time, or anyone who just wants a good, solid-running machine that will last for many years. I've always heard good things about Janome and this machine is no exception.

The speed is very slow, the pedal is cheap plastic and can break easily. The size is easy to handle for quick-fix sewing. The bobbin case is flimsy and comes dislodged easily.

This one had the functions I wanted, and had the best reviews I could find - very few poor reviews, actually, in all the places I could find sewing machine reviews on the internet. There aren't any here, so I thought I'd write one!
I got this machine in January, and have used it almost daily since then with no problems. The manual is great, and any snags I've run into have been easily solved - I've had to clean and oil it, since I've used a lot of linty material on it, but that's very easy to do and to be expected with lots of use!
It's much more quiet than my old Singer was. I don't have any complaints. There are features I'd like, but you have to buy a more expensive machine to get it all.
By the way, I paid about $170 for this with shipping. Search around a little for the best prices, they seem to vary widely.

It pops off completely to put on a new bobbin. But I've just made of habit of putting it in the same spot when changing bobbins so I won't lose it. I really like the little cubby hole storage box on the front to store the extra feet. Very nice machine, and I'm very happy with it.

Brother(R) VX1435 Mechanical Sewing Machine Review

(More customer reviews)I got this machine a year ago as a beginning sewer. I really loved it and was able to learn and make many things with it. I discovered and confirmed that sewing was going to be my 'thing'. I did not want my husband buying anything too expensive or fancy just in case I ended up not liking to sew.
Its a basic model and I don't need all of the fancy extras anyway. But now a year later, as my sewing confidence is growing and I am moving on to try new things, the machine stopped working right. There is some sort of problem with the thread. Its not the tension, I have tried everything. We have oiled and dusted it, changed thread, bobbins and fabric. The manual is terrible and not very helpful. The machine still runs but after a few stitches, the thread either breaks or comes out.
It may be a simple problem to fix but not something we can figure out. Since my husband got it for so cheap (and even on sale) he decided to get me a new one instead of paying to have this machine repaired.
We got a Husqvarna Emerald for $299. (a basic model) There is no comparison in how it runs its sturdier and even though its a basic model it has many nice extra features and the manual is great.
Having said that, there is no way that one year ago I'd have wanted a $300 machine not knowing if I would like sewing or not.
The Brother worked great and was easy to learn on, I just think it should have lasted longer than a year. 3 Months ago I probably would have given this 5 stars. Thats how happy I was with it until I started having these frustrating problems. (and an added note...a Husqvarna never needs oiling! How about that?)

(More customer reviews)I bought this case of bobbins with the understanding that it would work in my Brother CS-6000i machine. That was one of the model numbers listed as compatible with these bobbins under this bobbin case product description. However, I found that the bobbins did not work as stated. So now I have a storage case with a bunch of useless bobbins. While the bobbin would wind, it doesn't fit in the drop in case. The top and bottom are a little more rounded than the ones that come with the machine. This results in a loose fit that doesn't maneuver the thread well for tension. As a result, what were supposed to be straight stitches came out as a little curved zig zags. I tried taking it in an out a few times to see if it was user error, but any time I used one of the bobbins that came with the machine I didn't have any problems and any time I used these bobbins it didn't work. I also tried a few different bobbins from the case should there just be a couple of faulty ones. But the problem is with all of them due to the roundedness of the top and bottom. So just be advised that if you're buying this case of bobbins with the intention of using them in your Brother CS-6000i model, all you're getting is a storage case with 30 worthless bobbins...

(More customer reviews)We ordered 7 of these machines for our school sewing class, and each machine is in use approximately 1-2 hours per week. Upon receipt, one of the machines would not work, and we received a replacement. We have now been using the machines for about 6 weeks, and have consistently had problems with the bobbin casing dislocating and causing the needle to jam or break. The sewing instructor, who has extensive sewing experience, used the word temperamental to describe them and said that they are a nightmare for the frustrated students attempting to learn to sew. They were reasonably priced, but I guess you get what you pay for.

Brother PC-420 PRW Limited Edition Project Runway Sewing Machine Review

(More customer reviews)This a nice machine. I read the manual through once and was able to sew on it with confidence. I usually have trouble getting used to a new machine. It's very quiet and sews like a dream. There are many features that most seamstress' would love. My favorites are the automatic threader, the adjustable sewing speed (you can go real slow when working on something intricate), the auto thread cutter and the one touch reverse stitch. There are so many more features that I haven't used yet. I've only found one thing I don't like and that is the automatic presser foot lift and lower feature. There is a metal bar thing that goes under your sewing table and you use your knee to raise and lower the foot. It's kind of hard to do although I'm sure it would get easier with practice. I just do it manually. This is a solid, well built machine. I was using a $700 Husqvarna. Boy did I get ripped off when I bought that one. This machine can do so much more and was almost half the price. I did a lot of research looking for a new machine. Consumer reports recommended a different "Project Runway" machine. I looked everywhere but couldn't find one to purchase. I came across this machine and found it was similiar to the other but with more features. So I started reading reviews about it by people who purchased it. I could not find one bad review! That tells me all I need to know. If you're considering this machine you can buy it with confidence. It is a fantastic sewing machine at a fantastic price!!!

Never heard back so apparently their business is so good they don't need the business. If their business isn't that good, their poor customer service could be the reason. They give no useful information regarding the item. Wouldn't buy from them even if was the correct bobbin case now.
