I followed the instructions very carefully, but neither of the two devices would work.
The device is potentially DANGEROUS. On two occasions the device shot the needle 8 feet across the room.
I threw them both out.
It's a great concept, but the manufacturing quality is so poor that they just don't work.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this product in the hopes that it would help me fix my favorite shirt. As I started using it, however, I realized that it was not going to be acomplishable. I suppose that for ordinary purpases, it would wor fine, but I had a hole in the armpit of my shirt that I was trying to fix. The product didn't have enough space for me to fit the fabric into to properly fix it, and the stitch type wasn't strong enough.I have given this product three stars because it will work for fine for ordinary things, but don't expect to be able to handle big jobs.

Micro Stitch Starter Kit Review

(More customer reviews)I'm very short - 4'11", and I am always having to bring my pants to the tailors to be hemmed at $15-25 a pop, depending on where I go (it's expensive where I live!) I got tired of having to pay exhorbitant prices to have my pants taken up about an inch. I thought about using hem tape or stitch witch, and even looked into buying a small sewing machine (I don't know how to sew, however). Then I saw this product, and thought I'd at least try it. I LOVE IT. I hemmed three pairs of twill pants and a pair of jeans today and it took me about 15 minutes. You insert a plastic strip of very small "tacks" into the gun, turn your pants inside out, turn up the cuff to the length desired, insert the needle of the gun through the fabric, and pull the trigger. That's it. Take them off, and use as many tacks as you like around the hemline. The little plastic clips, or "tacks," are very hard to see once you're finished. I used the black ones on my blue pants, and they're barely noticable. I wish they made these in a tan color for khakis. I'll try using the white tacks and see how that looks. I'm very happy I bought this product, though. Now I can probably hem *most* of my pants on my own, and don't have to wait a week to get them back. And, the best part, you can remove the little tacks very easily. This is awesome, because this system allows you to adjust the hem length at will depending on which shoes you're wearing, and it literally takes only a few minutes -- I could probably do it in a minute or less if I hussled -- to hem a pair of pants. Do I enjoy having little plastic clips at the bottom of my pants leg. Not really - I'd rather have them sewn - but on the other hand, no one except me would ever notice them, and it's a practical way to save $$$ if you are constantly having to have your clothes hemmed. Highly recommend this product until something better comes along for do-it-yourself fast and easy alterations.

(More customer reviews)This product doesn't even deserve one star! I bought this for something simple and easy...what a BIG MISTAKE!! It's more trouble than it is worth! The hems don't hold up, it's a pain to finish a hem so it doesn't unthread on me, it's hard to control any real direction AND did I mention that it just plain SUCKS? I feel like I am all thumbs while trying to use it. It's now in the dumpster because I wouldn't even GIVE it away!!! Coming from the name Singer, I was a bit surprised of the bad quality :((

(More customer reviews)This is one of those items that really is too good to be true. I've read reviews of people saying that it doesn't work because the stitching just pulls out and because it doesn't have a second bobbin underneath, but that actually isn't true. If you pull the tailend thread through the fabric, you can tie it off and it'll hold the stitching. And the thread actually loops onto a hook underneath, where you would expect a second bobbin to be, and that's how it makes stitches.
The REAL issue with this is that the thread often slips off the the hook in the middle of sewing and you have a bunch of loose stitches. When it doesn't slip, it's great! Too bad it doesn't ever NOT slip. I managed to sew one seam of a dress I was making, the first seam, and after that it wouldn't sew without dropping stitches. Luckily I got this as a gift, and it has inspired me to start sewing, but now I need to get my hands on a actual machine that ACTUALLY sews. Don't waste your $10 + shipping on this!! Put it towards a real machine.

It took me a couple of hours to learn how to use the bobbin winder and the thread cassette the instruction book is written with pictures and describes everything step by step I found it very easy to use. I also love the fact of being able to use it with or without the foot pedal my last one I was constantly chasing it around the floor, its nice just to reach up and stop or start it with a button the same with the needle just push a button.I'm looking forward to all the built in stitches that are there and mosts of all its light and easy to handle and I sat it on a wooden tray table to try it out and there was no vibrations and its so quiet. I know I will get hours of enjoyment from this machine. I've sewed for along time and on all kinds of machines but I'm sure a beginner can learn to use it if you can use a computer you can use this
